Came from: Machester, MI

Story:
Amadeus was first admitted on July 17, 1997 to the Kalamazoo Nature Center in Kalamazoo MI. He was believed to be that year's hatchling and was found on the ground and unable to fly.  It was determined he had head trauma and some bone fragments in his eyes that had to be removed. He has poor vision due to being leucistic.

Amadeus is leucistic which is a form of albinism.  He has some pigment, instead of the pink eyes of an albino Amadeus has blue eyes, he also has a faint pattern to his feathers.

In 2002 Amadeus was transferred to Dody Wyman at River Raisin Raptor Center in Manchester MI so that it could be determined if he had enough site to be released. While he can see things very close to him he cannot see at a distance which renders him non-releasable.  When we approach him we do so slowly so as not to startle him.

When  Dody decided to downsize her educational program she offered Amadeus to us and we were more then happy to add him to our educational ambassadors.
